About Us

Our Mission

As parents (and grandparents!) of kids at various ages and stages, we are passionate about and committed to infusing family life with joyful, holistic Catholic Christian values and virtues. Our families are depending on us to lead the way.

To that end, we provide practical ideas and measured steps for breathing more life-affirming faith into our families. We hope you’ll join us. Together, we can build up our own families, and have a profoundly positive impact on the world around us.

And who doesn’t think our world could use a little more faith, hope and charity? It does, and it all starts with us – our homes and our families, guided and inspired by our faith.

Our challenge

We wish we could say we were born with all the answers. We wish we could say we have them all now! Truth is, much of what we write about are lessons we’re still learning, sometimes the hard way …and sometimes (thankfully) through less painful  “Ahhaah!” moments, typically in response to active prayer.

Like your family, ours have peaks, valleys, and some humdrum in between. While we might prefer a lofty vantage point, sipping tea and musing about how to tweak our families into a little-more-perfect version of themselves, the facts of the matter are that people are people (including us) and that life happens. There is no avoiding those day-to-day trials and frustrations as well as the heart-wrenching moments when we get blindsided. But what we continue to find and hold fast to is that intentional parenting is both preferable and do-able, and when we strive to order and orient those intentions in accordance with our Christian faith, life is just better.

So join us as we share  – sometimes from painful or embarrassing lessons learned, other times from desperate research for a better way, and occasionally from stumbling upon some heaven-sent wisdom – practical ways to grow in our faith and live out the day-to-day family journey.

Our Values

  • Our families need and deserve our best efforts – not just for the well-being of each individual member (although that would be a compelling reason in itself) but also because families are the building blocks for our culture and communities.
  • Faith is not merely an “add-on” to family life nor a periodic activity; families are enriched by immersing themselves in their faith and committing to spiritual growth individually and together.
  • Striving for holiness leads to true happiness.
  • Faith is not confined inside the walls of the home, but rather spills out to serve, inform and enrich our communities.
  • God’s design for marriage and family provides the foundation of and format for life-long loving bonds.
  • While we strive for ideals (in ourselves, our families, and communities), we recognize that those goals are valuable and approachable but not necessarily perfected in this world.
  • In desiring the best and comprehensive plan for our families – as the way to guide all of our own and our children’s growth, priorities, and behavior –  we turn to the One who created us, the Trinitarian God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Our views, and subsequently our posts, are grounded in the official and authentic teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
